Selecting the right Label Stock

Selecting the right label material is necessary in order to meet specific usage requirements. Among the most popular types of labels are standard paper, premium paper, polyolefin synthetic, polypropylene synthetic, gloss and matte polyester synthetic and polyimide synthetic. Selecting the right Adhesive

Selecting the right label adhesive is vital in order to meet specific usage necessities. The 5 different types of adhesives are permanent, removable, ultra removable, freezer and high aggressive. The chart below contains the various adhesives and features for each type.

Adhesive: Permanent
Features:

It is normally not able to be removed without damaging the label or surface. Solvents may be required in order to remove.

Adhesive: Removable
Features:

It will adhere strongly until intentionally removed. It is reasonably easy to remove without tearing or leaving behind residue.

Adhesive: Ultra Removable
Features:

It adheres weaker that removable and is able to be removed easily without leaving residue.

Adhesive: Glove Adhesive
Features:

Acrylic based adhesive designed not to adhere to gloves on incidental contact. It adheres well on glass and most plastics surfaces and mostly in laboratory applications.

Adhesive: Freezer
Features:

It is able to withstand a service temperature ‐40 degrees C and can be used for deep freeze storage.

Adhesive: High Aggressive
Features:

It adheres strongly and permanently to difficult surfaces. It is a type of permanent adhesive.

Selecting the right Ribbon

Selecting the right ribbon formulization is essential in providing optimal performance in your labeling application. Among the most popular types of thermal transfer ribbons are wax, wax/resin, resin and super resin. The chart below contains the various ribbon and label combinations to help describe the performance each combination will provide.

Ribbon: Wax
Label Compatibility: Coated Paper
Features:

High‐performance wax ribbon prints up to 8 inches per second. This ribbon provides minimal resistance to scratches, smearing and chemicals.

Ribbon: Wax/Resin
Label Compatibility: Coated Paper & Some Synthetics
Features:

High‐Performance wax/resin ribbons provides good resistance to scratches smears and most moderate chemicals.

Ribbon: Resin
Label Compatibility: Synthetic
Features:

Enhanced resin ribbon provides excellent resistance to s scratches, smears most harsh chemicals, outdoor environments and extreme temperatures.

Ribbon: Super Resin
Label Compatibility: Synthetic
Features:

Premium super resin ribbon provides excellent image durability without using a laminate. This ribbon provides excellent resistance to scratches, smears, most extreme chemicals, outdoor environments and extreme temperatures.

Glossary of Terms

Labels:

The following are general categories of material used in labels. Special material is available.

Term: Litho
Definition:

Paper material used commonly for general labeling purpose.

Term: Latex Impregnated
Definition:

Paper material mixed with latex to give the label added flexibility. This is commonly used on a curved surface such as test tubes. This formula prevents the ends from lifting.

Term: Direct Thermal
Definition:

Face stock with a special coating that produces an image when exposed to heat from a thermal printer. The image will fade over time on storage conditions. If material is exposed to direct sunlight or heat, the image will fade more rapidly. Typical applications are laboratory test and patient charge labeling. This material is available in paper and synthetic stocks.

Term: Direct Thermal Infrared
Definition:

Same imaging qualities as Direct Thermal but specially coated to make barcodes readable by infrared scanners typically found in laboratory text analyzers. The scanners are designed to read through labels that may have come in contact with fluid. A “Near Infrared” stock is available as a lower cost alternative.

SYSTEM ONE MEDICAL RETURN POLICY

All label product sales are based on determination by the purchaser that the label product is compatible with their application. System One Medical is not responsible for this determination. All exchanges must be made within 30 days of the invoice date at the sole discretion of System One Medical. Any product sent back to System One Medical must be accompanied with an RMA (retur  merchandise number). A 25% restocking fee is applicable on all stock items. Cancelled orders for non-stock items (custom or printed orders) will be subject to additional fees to cover any die charges, plate charges and/or prep fees.
